WebQuest

WebQuest is a resource on www.zunal.com where you can create an account, then create a personalized quest for your students to follow along.  You can also have free access to hundreds of other WebQuests that you can use in the classroom.
I created a WebQuest through my Social Studies Methods class.  A part of it is picture to the right.  If you want full access to it, follow the link below.

I give you permission to use this WebQuest in your classroom and feel free to leave me comments on how to make my WebQuest better.
     Thank you,
Olivia

Flickr

There has been a significant number of people using and joining Flickr over the past couple years.  Flickr is an online storage place for your photos where you can create galleries, sets of photos, etc.  It is commonly referenced when used with Facebook.  In my Educational Technology class, we had to create a Flickr account to store our photos.
I personally am extremely dissatisfied with the Flickr product as it is open hard to use, the tutorials on the website have inaccurate instructions and the layout of the website is disorganized, and busy to eye, making it hard to follow.  I would never recommend this site to anyone.

Thank you,

Olivia

Snagit - Classroom Organizer

As part of a multimedia project in Educational Technology, we were required to use the software Snagit to create a video about a specific classroom resource.  In my group, we chose to use Snagit to explain how to create your own classroom library using the Classroom Organizer website and app.  This is a simple and easy way to create and maintain a classroom library.  To learn how to use it, watch the video below.

QR Code Lesson Activity

  • QR Codes are becoming more and more popular in today's technological world as well as in schools.
    • Teachers are beginning to use these for different activities and lessons during classtime.
  • In my Educational Technology class we took a stab at creating our own lesson using QR Codes.
  • Mine is attached below, what do you think?
    • It is a lesson in culture and different countries history
    • It would most likely apply to a diversity and history standard within a school's curriculum

Your "WildSelf"

Hello Everyone,

Today in class, we learned how to create our "Wildselves", which is basically having fun on a website where you can design an Avatar of yourselef mixed with some of your favorite animals.  This website could be used as a resource for students during freetime, to practice their compter and internet skills.  In addition to this, it could also be used in an art clasroom, where students create their "wildselves" on the website and then take that idea and turn it into an art project.  Overall, is it a fun and creative website.  The link to the website and my "Wildself" is below: :)

Poster My Wall

The other day, my Educational Technology teacher introduced us to a number of different poster making websites and asked us to explore them and then pick one to write a blog about.  I chose to use Poster My Wall as my website to blog about.  This is a wonderful website because it allows you to upload photos from Facebook to use in your poster as well upload your poster to Facebook when you are done making it.  This makes it easy to work around paying the company to make my poster and allows me to use other services to print my poster for cheaper.
This website also has an easy to use interface with step by step directions on how to make a poster from scratch.  Also, it has different templates that you can use to make a poster as well if you prefer to work with a template.  I chose to make a photo with the step by step directions and the poster that I made is pictured below.

It is a collage format poster using photos from a camping trip that I recently went on.  However, this type of poster can be used for different teacher items as well.  For example, this type of poster could be used with photos from a class field trip or even a classroom roster for the first day of school welcome.  Overall, I would recommend this program for teachers and people in general because of its easy to use interface and directions as well as its ability to interact with Facebook throughout the program.

Just Crosswords

Just Crosswords
This website allows you to create and share your own crosswords, which is a nice resources. However, there are some limitations with this website. The title, words, and clues have letter amount limits that make some words and definitions difficult to include within the crossword. With that in mind, a great way to use this website would be for learning different languages and translation.

Khan Academy

Khan Academy
Khan Academy is a wonderful math resource for both students and teachers. They provide video tutorials on a significant and impressive amount of math topics. I would highly recommend teaching your students how to use this resource because it can help them study for tests, complete their homework, and makes your life as a teacher easier if they can seek answers in more than one place.

Jing

Jing
Jing is a free screenshot and video program. It is really easy to use and makes taking screenshots super easy! With this program you can take screenshots and save them wherever you wish as well as uploading them to different places. In addition, this program can record audio and video, allowing you to narrate an instructional video using different screens on your computer. A very useful tool in explaining how to use different technology programs in the classroom.

Dropbox

DropBox is a great place to store photos and be able to upload
and download them anywhere you have internet or a downloaded
dropbox icon. It is really easy to sort your photos by folders and if
you have the icon on your computer, you can edit the photos and it
automatically updates it in dropbox. I highly recommend this free
program for photos.

Google Drive

Google Drive is very helpful in sharing, saving, and transferring documents from computer to computer, and among other technological devices. I really like to save my documents in folders in Google Drive. However, I prefer to save my photos in folders on Dropbox.
